Brian Stout of Vandalia is running for the Illinois Senate in the 54th District.
Stout was selected by the Democrat county chairmen as the party’s candidate.
He will oppose Republican Jason Plummer of Edwardsville in November’s general election. Plummer won a four-man primary race, while there were no Democrats in the primary.

He received his MBA from Greenville University, is president of the Vandalia Park District and Airport, and Vandalia Rotary Club.
Stout owns an insurance adjustment company in Vandalia.
The 54th Senate District includes all of Bond, Fayette, Clinton, and Marion counties and part of Effingham, Madison, St. Clair and Washington counties.
