Vandalia Man Sentenced For Sex Crimes

Michael B. Crawford, age 29, of Vandalia, has been sentenced to state prison after entering negotiated pleas of guilty to two Class X charges of predatory sexual assault.

He was sentenced in Fayette County Circuit Court to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on count one and 10 years on count two. The sentences will run consecutively, meaning Crawford was given a total of 25 years.

A third count was dismissed by the state as part of the plea. He receives credit for 297 days in jail.

The charges alleged that in late 2015, Crawford committed the sexual offenses with a person under the age of 13.

Upon release from prison, Crawford will be on mandatory supervised release for three years to life. He must also register as a sex offender for life.
