The 73rd Annual Mulberry Grove High School Alumni banquet was Saturday, June 2, in the Mulberry Grove Elementary Gym. More than 220 people attended the event hosted by the class of 1967.
The classes of 1948, 1958, and 1968 were honored and Steve Lach was the MC for the evening. The theme centered on surviving veterans and veterans who gave their lives in the line of duty. “The Empty Chair” was a focal point as fellow classmates Ronnie Shipley, Mike Scott, and Jim Scroggins, were honored representing “all of the fallen” in all wars. Also remembered were those of the three classes who have passed.
Bernadine Edwards was the earliest graduate present, graduating in 1945. Hope Coleman traveled the farthest from San Diego, California, Gene Stoffel was the oldest veteran at age 97, and Herb Woolsey was recognized as the veteran with the most years of service at 34.
