Barbara A. Krebs


Barbara A. Krebs, age 75 of Carlyle, passed away at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis on Thursday, June 28, 2018.

Mrs. Krebs was born on May 26, 1943, in Breese, a daughter of John and Mary (Wichmann) Becker. She married John B. Krebs on September 5, 1964, and he survives in Carlyle.

In addition to her husband John, Barb is also survived by her children – Jeffrey Krebs and wife Jan of Cary, Illinois, Brent Krebs and wife Amy of Breese, and Kristin Krebs of Edwardsville; her grandchildren – Emily Wagner and husband David of Denver, Colorado, Tyler and John Krebs of Cary, Samuel, Abigail, and Bennet Krebs of Breese, and Jaedyn and Annisyn Krebs-Carr of Edwardsville; a great-granddaughter – Sonia Wagner of Denver; and her in-laws – Leona Becker of Beckemeyer, Arlene Krebs of Florida, Karen Kruep of Mt. Vernon, and Kathleen Nothaus and Neil of Carlyle. Barb is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings – Henry E. Becker and wife Olive, Cyril Becker, and Bertha Mroczek and husband Richard; and her brothers-in-law – Alan Krebs and Ron Kruep.

Barb’s family were her heart and joy. She cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter, and she loved collecting photos of her family. Barb volunteered as a tutor and taught English through Kaskaskia College. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Barb enjoyed traveling, word games, flower gardening, and reading the Bible daily.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck and Fr. Donald Blaes, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Friday, June 29, 2018, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday morning from 9:00 – 9:45 A.M.
