Law enforcement agencies, including the Greenville Police Department, continue to investigate a spree of armed robberies that occurred at businesses last week.
The Greenville incident occurred at 9:14 p.m. last Thursday at CC Food Mart. Three black men, one wielding a handgun, approached the clerk at the cash register and demanded money. They left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured.
About one hour later, a similar incident occurred at the burger King in Effingham.
Greenville Police Chief Johnny Runyon said another armed robbery also occurred in Indiana.
He reported Greenville police are working with other departments, including Illinois and Indiana State Police, to try to identify the suspects.
Chief Runyon told WGEL that evidence was obtained at CC Food Mart and it is now being processed. He added police are also tracing down some leads.
The robbers did not wear masks or gloves during the Greenville robbery. They fled in a dark or black 2005 or later model Dodge Durango.
Anyone with information about the robbery or suspects should call the Greenville Police Department at 664-2131.
