Headhunters Are Main Attraction At Fourth Fest

The Kentucky Headhunters are coming to Greenville!

The band is the featured musical attraction at Saturday’s Fourth Fest in downtown Greenville.

The Kentucky Headhunters will be on the main stage at 7:30 p.m.

Together nearly 50 years, the Kentucky Headhunters consist of original members Richard Young on rhythm guitar and vocals, his brother Fred Young on drums, their cousin Greg Martin on lead guitar and Doug Phelps on bass guitar and vocals.

The Headhunters had national hit songs in the early 1990’s with “Dumas Walker,” “Oh Lonesome Me,” “Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine,” and others.

Jeff Leidel talked to Richard Young about what those attending the concert can expect. He was blunt in answering he wasn’t sure.

“It’s like they said in Nashville, when we first came out. They said, ‘They’re uncontrollable and they’re unmanageable’ and we love that,” Young said. He said they’ll play the hits, but every concert is a unique experience for that particular audience. He said they threw away their set lists 20 years ago. “We don’t have a set list. If you can’t remember your songs after 50 years, forget it.”
