Madison County residents have recently been targeted by fraudsters identifying themselves as members of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. They tell people there is a warrant for their arrest and present options to take care of the warrant by paying a certain amount of money, usually by credit card.
Should you get a call of this type, hang up immediately.
The Sheriff’s Department will never call to inform you of a warrant and ask you to pay over the phone.
