Real Estate Scam Warning

Bond County Sheriff Jim Leitschuh is warning residents of yet another scam impacting our area.

The Supervisor of Assessments office is reporting that several landowners in Bond County have received letters in the mail from a company in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, wanting to buy their property.

The letter includes a purchase agreement the company asks the owner to sign and return if they accept the offer. It appears the company is offering much less than fair market value for property.

County officials urge landowners to be skeptical of entering into unsolicited contracts sent to them in the mail and suggest consulting their own attorney or real estate agent in regard to selling their home or property.
