Two Vehicle Accident On Interstate 70 Sends Two To Hospital

Illinois State Police worked a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, at 3:19 p.m., in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70, at the 64 mile marker.

According to the accident report, a Nissan Sentra, driven by Amber Wenthe, age 23, of Watson, Illinois was eastbound on Interstate 70 followed by a Ford sedan, driven by Kathleen Roach Burford, age 24, of Brownstown.

Traffic had slowed due to a multi-vehicle accident in the westbound lanes and as Wenthe slowed, Burford failed to slow down and rear ended the Wenthe car.

Both drivers were taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment.

Burford was cited for alleged failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
