The Watson’s Senators’ Junior Legion baseball team won a doubleheader last weekend after opening the season in the Greenville University wooden bat tournament. In that tourney, the Senators won one of three games.
The doubleheader sweep was over Piasa.
In game one, the Senators posted a 5 to 0 victory. Jonathan Barnes was the winning pitcher, going 4 and two-thirds innings. He allowed two hits, and three walks while striking out seven.
Brock Nelson finished the game on the mound for the save.
Offensively, Logan Doll drove in two runs. Drew Frey had two hits including a double and one of Wil Harnetiaux’s two hits was a triple.
In the second game, the Senators beat Piasa 5 to 2.
Harnetiaux earned the pitching win. In four innings of work, he struck out six, walked three and yielded two hits.
Nelson picked up his second save of the day.
Harnetiaux also produced on offense, clubbing a double and triple, and driving in three runs.
Barnes and Nelson had one RBI apiece.
Frey tripled. Mason Johnson and Barnes also hit safely.
The Senators play two games in Decatur Saturday.
