7th Grade Girls Basketball Regionals


Seventh grade girls basketball regionals are underway in the Illinois Elementary School Association state tournament.

Greenville is playing for a Class 3A regional championship this evening at 6 p.m., going up against unbeaten Staunton. The game will be at Hillsboro.

The Lady Blue Jays are 21 and 3 after beating Vandalia Monday night in the regional semifinals. They opened up a 16-4 lead in the first quarter and were in front the entire game.

Top scorers were Katie Campbell with 17 points, Natalie McCullough with 8 and Shayna Henderson 6.

In Class 1A, three Bond County schools are in the Pana Sacred Heart Regional.

Pocahontas has advanced to the semifinal round and plays Pana Sacred Heart at 6 o’clock this evening.

The Lady Indians defeated Mulberry Grove 26-18 in the opening round. Sorento was ousted from the regional by Ramsey.
