The Carlinville Cavaliers’ football season ended Saturday in the semifinals of the Class 3A playoffs.
Monticello beat Carlinville 40-14 and will now play for the Class 3A state title Friday against Byron.
Monticello was the team that knocked Greenville out of the playoffs in the quarterfinal round.
