Viola M. Potts Ennen

Viola M. Potts Ennen, age 85 of rural Smithboro, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Greenville.

In keeping with her wishes no public services will be held and private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorials in Vi’s memory may be made to the Greenville V.F.W. Post 1377 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home.

Viola Margaret Potts, the daughter of Andrew and Marie Charlier Potts, was born on December 2, 1933 in Greenville. She grew up in Greenville and attended the local schools. Early in life she worked as a waitress.

Viola and Edward Louis Ennen were united in marriage on November 27, 1950 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. They were later divorced. Vi was an active farm wife, enjoyed bowling, rolling a 299 game in 1974, golfing in Keyesport, and painted for over 10 years.

They farmed south of Smithboro and are the parents of their three children who survive: David Eugene Ennen and his wife Kay, Vicky Lynn Jansen and husband Ronald of rural Carlyle, Douglas E. Ennen, three grandchildren: Crystal Ennen, Tara Jansen, Susan Korte and husband Dan, four great-grandchildren: Aubree Leidner, Nathan Jansen, Alex Korte, and Erika Korte. Vi was one of twelve Potts children and is survived by her last sister Eileene “Lee” Telfer and husband Jim of Macon, IL, and three sisters-in-law: Margaret Potts, Joan Potts, and Opal Potts.

Viola is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Brian Ennen, great-grandson Bryce Volkmar, 4 sisters: June Rench, Pauline Hair, Maxine age 3, Irene Lee, and six brothers: Louis, Donald, Henry, Earl, Andrew, and Eugene.
