Burnell J. Augustin, age 84 of Pocahontas, IL, died Friday, January 25, 2019, at Saint Luke’s Hospital-West in Chesterfield, MO.
He was born August 15, 1934, in Highland, IL, the son of Henry and Viola (nee Zobrist) Augustin.
On January 27, 1956, he married Carole I. Mettler at Grantfork E & R Church.
He was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ. He was also a member of Former Grantfork UCC Church Counsil Member (Secretary for many years); Men’s Fellowship at Church; Men’s Choir; Sexton Grantfork UCC Cemetery.
Burnell was born in Highland and after his fathers death his family moved East of Grantfork. He had worked for the ASCS Office in Edwardsville, measuring farm ground. He graduated Highland High School in 1951. He worked on the family farm until joining the US Army for 2 years. He returned home and operated the family farm of grain and dairy East of Grantfork. He retired in 2006, but quit milking in 1996. Burnell loved musical theater at the Muniy and Fox Stages. He followed his children’s activities as they grew up and also enjoyed his grandchildren’s activities. His church activities were always very important to him especially giving tractor and hay rides.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL.
Funeral Service/Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Grantfork United Church of Christ in Grantfork, IL, with Rev. Tim Darmour-Paul officiating.
Interment will be at Grantfork U.C.C. Cemetery in Grantfork, IL.
