Daisy F. Jarvis, age 98 of Greenville, passed away 9:11 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home with Pastor Tyson Graber officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Donnell-Wiegand. For those who desire memorials in Daisy’s memory may be made to the Meals on Wheels at Donnell-Wiegand.
Daisy Floetta Smith, the daughter of Lonnie Arthur Smith and Winnie Myrtle Oakley Smith was born on May 14, 1920 in Marshall County Kentucky. Daisy was raised in Marshall County moving to Granite City in 1930 where she attended school in Fosterberg. Daisy worked on the farm with her father, then worked for General Electric for 11 years. She worked as a cook in restaurants, worked at DeMoulin Brothers Cap and Gown Company, cared for children in her home, and last for the Bond County Senior Citizen’s Center.
Daisy and Earl Eugene Jarvis were united in marriage on July 15, 1954 in St. Louis and enjoyed over 31 years together before his death on October 16, 1985. Daisy is preceded in death by her daughter Donna Oglesby on July 7, 2013, by her parents, and is the last of her generation of 9 Smith children being preceded in death by brothers James, Maston, Seldon, Lonnie, and sisters: Zola M. Johnson, Erma E. Frankford, Cora E Smith in infancy, and Rev. Edna Rainey.
Daisy is survived by her two grandsons: Bradley (Jamie) Oglesby of Mulberry Grove, Matthew (Fiance’ Jennifer Smith) of Pocahontas, great-granddaughter Kelsey, great-grandson Brady Oglesby, step great-granddaughter Paige Roberts, son-in-law Ira (Julie) Oglesby of Greenville, and brother-in-law Robert Rainey of Greenville.
Daisy was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Hardin, Kentucky, and attended the Pentecostal Church in Greenville.
