Donna Marie Ahlmeyer

Donna Marie Ahlmeyer, 73 of Highland, IL, formerly of St. Jacob, went home to the Lord on Sunday, January 06, 2019.

She was born on Thursday, January 11, 1945, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Aaron and Henrietta (nee Stieb) Daiber.

On September 19, 1964, she married Thomas W. Ahlmeyer at Marine, IL, He survives in Highland, IL .

She was a member of Saint James Catholic Church in St. Jacob, IL. She was also a member of Highland Knights of Columbus Ladies Aux. ; Saint Jacob American Legion Ladies Aux. .

Donna was born January 11, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland to Aaron and Henrietta (nee Stieb) Daiber of Marine. She attended Marine Grade School and Triad High School. On September 17, 1964 she married Thomas Ahlmeyer at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Marine, IL. She resided in St. Jacob for 53 years before recently moving to Highland. She worked for the Triad School District as an administrative assistant, bookkeeper, and treasurer in the Superintendent’s office for 37 years. She was an active member and volunteer of St. James Catholic Church. She decorated the church for special occasions and holidays. Donna and Tom coordinated the Giving Tree at Christmas for the community of St. Jacob for over 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She loved crafts, making wreaths and floral arrangements, baking, and cake decorating. She made and decorated many cakes for weddings, graduations, and family birthdays. She was also a great seamstress. She made beautiful bridesmaids dresses, many Halloween costumes, and patched many pairs of jeans over the years. She enjoyed making thousands of pillowcases, blankets, surgi-pillows, and tooth pouches for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Donna enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. She enjoyed years of watching her grandkids’ activities and sports as they grew up. She loved spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren. She will be remembered by all of those whom she generously touched. She was a caring, thoughtful person who was always lending a helping hand.

She was preceded in death by :
Father – Aaron D. Daiber – Died 7/19/1998
Mother – Henrietta M. Daiber nee Stieb – Died 4/27/2007

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 09, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Father Pat Jakel officiating.

Interment will be at Keystone Cemetery in Saint Jacob, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Cemetery ; St. James Catholic Church ; American Heart Association.
