Lady Comets Over Vandals

Playing at home Thursday night, the Greenville Lady Comets defeated Vandalia 64-31.

The GHS girls never trailed, jumping out to a 10-2 lead. They were in front by 25 at halftime and 34 after three quarters.

Nine players scored for the winners, led by Nancy Fritzsche with 16 points, Rylee Pickett with 12 and Megan Hallemann with 10.

The win gives the Lady comets a 6-1 South Central Conference record. They tied a school record for best start to a season, winning for the 24th time in 25 games. The 1987-88 team was 24-1 during the regular season.

This year’s team can set a new mark Saturday afternoon at Staunton. The junior varsity game begins at noon with varsity action to follow.
