Lady Comets In Regional Championship

The Greenville Lady Comets are in the championship game of the Staunton Class 2A Regional.

Wednesday night, they defeated Vandalia 53-25 in the semifinals.

GHS never trailed. The Lady Comets led by 12 after one quarter, 15 at halftime and 30 after three quarters.

Jeff Leidel talked to Head Coach Kolin Dothager after the game. He said the big lead helped him rest the starters for Thursday’s big game.

Leading scorers for GHS in the Vandalia game were Ally Cantrill with 11 points, and Rylee Pickett and Megan Hallemann with 10 apiece.

The Lady Comets play Alton Marquette for the regional title tonight at 7 p.m. at Staunton. Marquette beat Staunton 53-41. The Greenville High School team goes into the game with a 28-1 record and a 20-game winning streak. Marquette is 21 and 9.
