Meals On Wheels Run

Although it’s winter, it’s not too early to think about the Bond County Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels fundraiser the end of March.

Senior Center Executive Director Jill Jones told WGEL registration is now open for the annual run/walk. The event will be Saturday, March 30. The 5K will start at 9 AM and the one-mile will begin at 9:15. Both courses begin and end at the Bond County Senior Center.

There are prizes in different age categories. Nonrefundable entry fees are $25 is signed up by March 22 and $30 after. Event t-shirts will be provided to those who pre-register.

Jones said the fundraiser is needed to continue the Meals On Wheels program. The Bond County program provided meals to 13,525 clients last fiscal year. the program is partially funded through the Older Americans Act, but fundraisers are necessary and donations help as well. There are currently 56 clients in the Bond County Area that receive a meal every day.
