Three Straight Wins For Baseball Comets


The Greenville Comets varsity baseball team has started the season with three straight wins after defeating Metro East Lutheran 6 to 0 Monday.

Brock Nelson was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete game. He struck out 9 and allowed just two hits.

The game was scoreless going into the 6th inning. Jonathan Barnes put the Comets in front with a run-scoring single.

Drew Frey delivered a two-run double in the seventh.

The Comets play at Vandalia Thursday and have a home double header Saturday stating at 10 a.m.

Last week in junior varsity action, Greenville rolled past Pana 15-1. Chase Bellegante and Hayden Graham handled the pitching duties.

Offensively, Aiden Johnson, Brett Schauwecker and Dawson Graber drove in two runs apiece with singles.
