James Burke of Greenville is now officially a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony was last Saturday in Bloomington. Mr. Burke became a Hall of Famer in the Friends of Basketball category.
He was a long-time basketball coach at the Greenville Junior High School and started the Blue Jays 8th Grade Boys Tournament over 70 years ago.
Mr. Burke’s son, Terry, accepted the Hall of Fame plaque at the ceremony and is proud to see his father recognized. He said it was a great evening that was as much for the community as for his dad.
