Clinton County 4-H Youth Participate In National Day of Service

4-H members from across the country are encouraged to participate in a National Day of Service in April each year. This year Clinton County 4-H members had two opportunities to take on National Day of Service activities. More than 30 youth took part.

Although National Day of Service is in April, both opportunities got off to a running start earlier in the year. The first activity involved making posters, cards, and leather crafts to be donated to Veterans taking the Honor Flight out of Marion on May 14. The donation went with backpacks that a group of 4-H members and volunteers gathered to sew over the winter.

In March participants in a 4-H woodworking workshop made birdhouses. On April 27, those members, and volunteers installed 23 birdhouses at Eldon Hazlet State Park with the help of Illinois Department of Natural Resources Staff.
