Dale L. Wiesemeyer

Dale L. Wiesemeyer, age 87 of Highland, IL, formerly of Pocahontas, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, IL.

He was born on Sunday, March 20, 1932, in Marine, IL, the son of Edwin and Rosa (nee Hencke) Wiesemeyer.

On Friday, April 18, 1952, he married Sara J. Wiesemeyer nee Geries at the E & R Church, Highland, IL, who survives.

He was a member of V.F.W. Post 5694 of Highland (50+ year member); affiliated with Evangelical United Church of Christ – Highland, IL.

He was born at Marine, IL; he grew up in the Pierron/Pocahontas, IL area helping with his father’s grain and dairy farm. He had worked construction out of Labor Local #677 at Pocahontas, IL; in October of 1952 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years duty in Korea with the 76th Combat Engineer Division. After his return from the military, he worked at Alton Box Board Company (now Jefferson Smurfit) in Highland for over 40 years. He was presented with an Employee Recognition Award for “40 years of dedicated service” when he retired in 1995. He farmed his father’s 140 acre farm from 1969-1989 while also working at the Box Company. He enjoyed gardening, wood-working, birds and trees. “Dale enjoyed working the soil and watching the fields turn into acres of golden grain.”

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Ray Snider, Pastor, United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL, officiating.

Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
