The Greenville Federal Correctional Institution held a Fallen Officers Ceremony Tuesday afternoon as part of Correctional Officers Week.
The program was conducted in front of the main prison. First graders from the Greenville Elementary School, holding small American flags, sang the National Anthem, and members of the FCI staff participated in the event.
Twenty-six officers who have died from 1901 to 2013, in the line of duty at United States prison facilities, were remembered.
The guest speaker was Dr. Richard Seiter, who was the first warden at Greenville FCI when it opened in 1994. He commended the Greenville FCI staff and correctional officers for their dedication.
