Those receiving water and sewer services from the City of Greenville had their rates increased slightly this month.
The automatic adjustment is dome by the city each year through a continuing ordinance adopted by the city council several years ago.
City Manager Dave Willey said this year’s increases are the result of a calculation, taking the consumer price index from last year to this year and use 80% of it as the rate change. For this year, that became a 1.49% change.

In the city, the rate for the first 2,000 gallons of water went up 22 cents and the sewer for the same amount increased 15 cents.
