Kalert Sworn In As New KC Trustee

Louis Kalert of Centralia (L) is sworn in as the newest member of the Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees by Board Chairman Bill Hawley (R).

The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees met Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in special session. Board members include Bill Hawley (Odin), Linda Stover (Centralia), Jack Mays (Centralia), Jim Beasley (Centralia), Bryan Holthaus (Carlyle), Laura Wedekemper (Shattuc) and Student Trustee Justin Huff (Dix).

Louis Kalert of Centralia was sworn in this evening as a member of the Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees, replacing Dr. Dee Boswell. Kalert was selected by his fellow Trustees following interviews of three potential candidates who had applied for the position.

The position is a return to KC for Kalert who taught Manufacturing & Tool for eight years at the College. Kalert told the other trustees he hopes to do the job justice. Board Chairman Bill Hawley said the Board has chosen a very good man and looks forward to serving with Kalert. In addition to his time as an instructor, Kalert is also retired from the Canadian National Railway. He serves on the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and previously served on the Centralia City Council.

Kalert’s first duties as a Trustee will take place Friday evening as he takes part in the College’s 2019 Commencement Ceremony in the KC Gymnasium. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m.
