Lady Comets Fall In Soccer Regional

The Greenville Lady Comets’ soccer team suffered a tough loss in regional action Tuesday evening at Tom Doll Field.

Auburn edged the Greenville High School girls 2-1 on penalty kicks.

The Lady Comets took the lead in the first half on a goal by Cadie Neely. Allyson Haberer had the assist. It was 1-1 at halftime. After a scoreless second half, the game went into overtime. No one scored in the overtime so the winner was determined by penalty kicks.

Auburn made all five of its attempts. Putting the ball into the goal for the Lady Comets were Gwyn Mitchell, Kaidyn Green, And Brenna Weiss.

It was senior night with Lady Comets players and their parents recognized. Senior players are Allyson Haberer, Madelyn Wade, Cadie Neely, Gabie Oglesby, Moriah Valentin and Jackie Forys.

The Greenville Regional concludes Friday at 4:30 p.m. with Litchfield playing Auburn in the championship game.
