Margaret Johnson Kersey, age 87 of Greenville, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Dr. Ward Sussenbach officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Friday until service time. Memorials in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Greenville First United Methodist Church, or the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Fund.

Margaret Louise, the daughter of Howard and Leora Essenpreis Johnson, was born February 2, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. She grew up around this area and attended school in Highland, Illinois and Greenville, Illinois. Margaret graduated from Greenville High School with the class of 1949.
Margaret did book keeping for several local businesses. She was most recently working at True-Value, for the past 25 years. Margaret enjoyed bowling and played for leagues and bowled 2 times a week for years. She was also an avid golfer.
Margaret and John Kersey were united in marriage on June 19, 1949 at the Essenpreis Home in Greenville. They have enjoyed 69 years together. Surviving are 2 children: Karen A. Neathery and husband Ivan of Mulberry Grove and Mindy Roy of Mehlville, Missouri. Loving grandmother of Ethan Neathery and wife Addie of Florida, Raymond Neathery of Mulberry Grove, Illinois and Andrew Roy of Springfield, Missouri and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Patricia Vivod and husband David of Troy, Illinois. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews, 2 special children: Ryenne Sandifer and Connor Sandifer, and sister-in-law to Tedra Johnson. She was a friend to everyone she meet.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother William “Bill” Johnson and son-in-law Bob Roy.
