The memory of the late Dave Marti of Greenville continues.
Last Wednesday, the Marti Family and Greenville fighters donated $3,200 to the St. Louis area Backstoppers organization.
The money was raised by the Greenville Firefighters Association at the annual Dave Marti Fish Fry.
Each year, the family decides what group will benefit from the proceeds and this year Backstoppers was chosen.
Accepting the check was Backstoppers Board Member Larry Gardner.
He said fundraisers are very important to Backstoppers. He said their budget is $1.5 to $2 million and they support 160 families.

Gardner said if a first responder receives a catastrophic injury or is killed in the line of duty, the family immediately receives $10,000. The organization then works with the family to cover financial needs such as car or house payments. Children of the first responders are provided with a college education through Backstoppers as well.
