Mater Dei Softball & Baseball In Sectionals

Mater Dei High School’s softball and baseball teams are in sectional tournaments.

The softball Lady Knights won the Carlyle Class 2A Regional, defeating Trenton Wesclin 12-3 in the title game. They face Arthur-Lovington at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Newton Sectional. That contest will be followed by Teutopolis against Mt. Carmel.

The Mater Dei baseball team won its own Class 2A regional, beating Belleville Althoff 17-6 in the championship game.

The Knights advance to the Teutopolis Sectional Wednesday. Games include Gillespie against Teutopolis at 4 p.m., followed by Mater Dei against Robinson.

Nashville is in the Benton baseball sectional, and plays Fairfield at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

In Class 1A baseball, Dieterich is hosting a sectional. Games Wednesday are Altamont against South Central at 4 p.m. and Louisville North Clay against Nokomis.

Greenville University is hosting a Class 1A baseball sectional. Semifinal games are Wednesday with Carrollton against Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m. followed by Waterloo Gibault against Greenfield. The championship game is Saturday at 11 a.m.

Litchfield is hosting a Class 2A softball sectional.

Southwestern Piasa goes up against Williamsville on Tuesday and Hillsboro plays Pleasant Plains Wednesday in semifinal games.
