Robert E. “Bob” Straube, age 70 of Marine, IL, died Sunday, May 05, 2019, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

He was born on Thursday, September 02, 1948, in Granite City, IL, the son of Harold and Ruth (nee Luehmann) Straube.

He was a member of United Church of Christ of Marine, Marine, IL; IBEW Local 309, Collinsville, IL; Local 50, West Frankfort, IL.

Born at Granite City, IL; grew up in Granite City, St. Jacob and Marine, IL. Graduated from Triad High School, Troy, IL. He served with the US Army Reserves. He worked for NG Gilbert Construction Co; worked out of Local 50, West Frankfort, IL; then for Southwestern Electric Cooperative, Greenville, IL, for over 30 years, as a forestry foreman and warehouseman. He farmed all his life. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, taking cruises and trips to Branson, MO.

Sister-In-law – Donna J. Straube, Pocahontas, IL
Former Wife – Betty A. Straube (nee Zeller), New Douglas, IL.

He was preceded in death by:
Father – Harold Carl Straube – Died 5/3/2003
Mother – Ruth Fredia Straube (nee Luehmann) – Died 11/26/1995
Brother – Jonathan F. Straube – Died 12/11/2001
Sister-In-law – Diane M. Straube – Died 6/27/2002.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, May 10, 2019, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 10, 2019, at United Church of Christ of Marine in Marine, IL, Rev. Philip H. Kershner, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at Marine Cemetery in Marine, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or United Church of Christ of Marine.
