Seniors Celebrate Skip Day

Wednesday was Greenville University Senior Skip Day in Greenville as students assisted and interacted with senior citizens.

At the Bond County Senior Center, City Manager Dave Willey read a proclamation issued by Mayor Alan Gaffner.

Ross Baker, university Dean of Students, said Skip Day is part of the Experience First program at GU. The program is designed to pair students with organizations and businesses for a hands-on experience. One of the partner organizations this year was Age Smart.

The day consisted of the students doing yard work and other chores for senior citizens at their homes, and activities were provided at the senior center.

Danara Moore, director of Greenville University’s Experience First program, expressed her appreciation for the students and sponsors.
