Edwardsville Wins Baseball Title


Edwardsville High School won its third state baseball championship over the weekend.

In the Class 4A tournament at Joliet, the Tigers defeated St. Charles North, 3-2 in 8 innings, for the state title. They beat Hampshire 2-0 in the semifinals.

Edwardsville ended the season with a 37-5 record. Previous state championships were in 1990 and 1998.

In Class 3A, the Waterloo Bulldogs placed third in the state tournament with a 9-2 win over Dixon.
