Former Greenville Comets star athlete Tyler Hutchinson has completed his college baseball career at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
He recorded a pitching save in his final game for the Cougars. Hutchinson had a 1-2 record and 2 saves in 17 pitching appearances this past season, striking out 14 batters in 28 innings.
He played his freshman season at Heartland Community College then transferred to SIU-E. In three seasons for the Cougars, Tyler Hutchinson had a 3-3 won-loss mark with three saves. He made 42 pitching appearances, throwing 87 innings and striking out 41 batters.
Tyler played football, basketball and baseball at Greenville High School. His name is in the state football record books several times for quarterback accomplishments.
He is the son of Todd and Julie Hutchinson of rural Sorento, and plans to be an assistant coach for the football Comets this fall.
