Work was recently completed to repair the elevator at the Greenville Public Library. More is on the way.
The library board recently hired the Korte Company of Highland to do the work at a price not to exceed $10,000.
Library Director Jo Keillor said the next project involves bringing the elevator up to state standards. The new state code says there can only be three inches of space between the outer door and the folding door of the elevator cab. The library’s was too big and required modification. Keillor said it is important for everyone to have access to the library.

Keillor said the project includes a new mechanism to open the door and building a new door frame. She reported the work will begin in a few weeks, once the parts are received.
