Misc. Action From Unit 2 Board

At its recent meeting, the Bond County Unit 2 board of education approved a federally-required consolidated district plan.

It includes the requirements for four federal programs. The consolidated plan is intended to cover all schools in the district and reflect the ongoing efforts by teachers, administrators and the board toward academic achievement for all students, especially those at risk of failure.

Through the district plan, Unit 2 can determine a cohesive manner that eliminates duplication of effort and addresses the learning needs of the whole child.

The board approved renewal of athletic memberships to the Illinois Elementary School Association. The fees were $680 apiece for Pocahontas and Sorento schools, and $745 for Greenville Junior High.

Membership was also renewed in the Illinois Association of School Boards at a cost of $5,055.

The board approved overnight trips for high school varsity basketball June 27 at Jacksonville and during the Christmas break for the Pinckneyville Tournament, high school girls’ basketball June 17 and 18 at Murray, Kentucky; high school football July 29 and 30 in Galesburg, and high school FFA June 11, 12 and 13 at Springfield
