It’s become an early summer tradition in Greenville.
The Greenville University boys and girls basketball camps bring hundreds of youngsters, coaches and family members to the city throughout June.
The first camp of 2019 was this past week.
G.U. Men’s Basketball Coach George Barber, a camp director, said the camps have been successful for 20 years. There are three full weeks of team camp. He said the camps are great recruiting tools for the university. He estimates that hundreds of students have attended Greenville U based on their visits to the Panthers basketball camps.

Those travelling through Greenville during the camps will probably come upon many teams going to and from visiting local restaurants.
Coach Barber said the camps are good for Greenville’s economy. Hotels, gas stations, and restaurants have asked for early notice of camp dates so they can have enough staff to handle the increase in business.
