Teutopolis is back on top of the high school baseball world.
At the Class 2A state tournament Saturday, the Wooden Shoes defeated Pleasant Plains 12-6 in the state title game.
Teutopolis defeated the Greenville Comets to win the Greenville Regional. The Wooden Shoes finished second at state last year and claimed the 2A championship in 2017.
The Comets beat Pleasant Plains during regional week this past spring.
Waterloo Gibault finished second in the Class 1A state tournament. The Hawks were winners of the sectional held at Greenville University.
Highland reached the semifinals of the Class 3A sectional in Salem, but was edged in 8 innings by Carbondale 4-3.
Effingham advanced to Monday’s (June 3) Class 3A super-sectional in Sauget by beating Glenwood 3-2 to win the Springfield Sectional title.
Edwardsville was champion of the Bloomington Class 4A sectional to advance to Monday’s (June 3) Springfield Super-Sectional.
