Illinois State Police are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred Saturday at 3 AM. Preliminary details indicate 31 year old Nicholas Riel, of Centralia, was lying in the northbound lane of Old Highway 51 just north of Community Beach Road. A Chevy Impala, driven by 37 year old Craig A. Taylor, of Junction City, was traveling northbound and ran over Riel.
The incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and Zone 7 Investigations. No charges have been filed.
