Unit One Board Acts On Personnel Matters

The Mulberry Grove Unit 1 school board accepted a resignation Monday night from a long-time employee who has taken a new position.

The resignation of Brian Cook as an industrial arts/business teacher at the high school was approved.

Cook was hired last week as a principal in the Waverly School District. He will cover grades 7 through 12.

Waverly is about 20 miles southeast of Jacksonville. The high school enrollment listed by the IHSA is 109 students.

The Mulberry Grove school board also extended the contracts of three administrators for another year. Superintendent Steve Phillips and Elementary School Principal Casie Bowman just completed their first school years at Mulberry Grove.

Bob Koontz is the junior high/high school principal. A Mulberry Grove graduate, Koontz will be going into his fifth year as a principal in Unit 1. He was the elementary school principal three years before accepting the junior high/high school position last year.
