Saturday night was festive in Pocahontas as the annual Pocahontas-Old Ripley Volunteer Fireman and EMS picnic took place.
A parade began the activities.
Led by as veteran’s color guard and a wagon with veterans on it, the parade also included law enforcement officers from the Pocahontas Police Department and the Bond County Sheriff’s Department.
Emergency vehicles were presented by the Pocahontas-Old Ripley, Smithboro, Shoal Creek and Greenville fire districts.
Bond County Junior Miss Dakota Kruep was atop the Smithboro fire truck.
The Bond County Fair Little Miss participants rode on a float. Other floats were submitted by the Bond County Shrine Club and Smokehouse. Several politicians were in the parade, in addition to many walkers honoring the memory of Elijah Randall, and the Secret Santa Society had a wagon.
Five Shriners drove mini vehicles in the parade.
Meals were served after the parade, youngsters enjoyed the bounce houses set up in the downtown park, and the Chapman Brothers performed music.
