Harry J. Earnest, 85, of Sorento, IL, died Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Harry was born January 25, 1934, to Hank and Margaret (nee Thompson) Earnest in E. St. Louis, IL. On July 16, 1955, he married Betty Adams, in Grantfork, IL. She passed away in March 1975. On November 11, 1977, he married Willa Lohman in Sorento, IL.

Hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling were some of Harry’s favorite things to do. He loved his dogs and all animals. He really enjoyed watching his grandchildren show their animals through 4-H. Harry was a fan of the Highland Stock Car Races and enjoyed going.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Willa Earnest, Sorento, IL; children, Larry Earnest, Vandalia, IL, Cindy Heflin, Mulberry Grove, IL; stepson, John Gall Jr., Golden Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Jessica (significant other, Ethan Hanson) Earnest, Josie (Kyle) Barnes, Danielle Heflin; step grandchildren, Derek (significant other, Laura) Gall, Cale Gall, Nicholas (Cara) Snow, Lauren (significant other, Ryan Athmer) Gall, Megan (significant other, Craig Neer) Snow; step great grandchild, Kinslee Gall; brother, Marvin Earnest, Old Ripley, IL; sister, Georgia (John) Bakay, Belleville, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Margaret Earnest; first wife, Betty Earnest; step daughter, Cheryl Collman; daughter-in-law, Lisa Earnest; son-in-law, Kurt Heflin; brothers and sisters, Ida Busch, Virgil Earnest, Edgar Earnest, Lil Schuster, Nellie Greenfield and Gladys Wells.

Memorials may be made to Robinson Cemetery.

Visitation: Monday, August 5, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.
