Investigation Continues Into Death Of Alhambra Woman & Two Others


Illinois State Police Zone 6 investigations is currently investigating three recent homicides involving females in the Washington Park and East St. Louis area.

The body of the first victim identified as Sandra D. Reckmann, a 49 year-old female of Alhambra, was discovered in an area of overgrown vegetation in the 1600 block of 56th Street in Washington Park on Tuesday, July 9.

On Wednesday, July 10, the body of the second victim, identified as Bridgette B. Williams, a 56 year-old female of Washington Park, was discovered in the John Thornton Memorial Park in Washington Park

Most recently, on Sunday, July 21, the East St. Louis Police Department responded to the report of a person down near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Bellevue Street. Upon arrival, police discovered Amanda M. Legare, a 38 year-old female of Belleville, was deceased. Legare’s body was located just off the roadway in an area of overgrown vegetation.

Further investigation revealed similarities in the cases including, lifestyles, locations frequented, the general time of day in which the bodies were discovered, and the cause of death, each from sustained gunshot wounds.

Illinois State Police, in conjunction with the Washington Park and East St. Louis Police Departments, have established extra patrols throughout the affected communities. State police are requesting the public’s assistance in any information related to these investigations.
