Madison County Fair Begins Tuesday


The Madison County Fair in Highland begins Tuesday, July 23 and runs through Sunday, July 28.

Fair President David Ammann said each day has a designated title. Tuesday is Senior Citizen Day, Wednesday is Disability Awareness Day, Thursday is Public Safety Day, Friday is Agricultural Day, Saturday is Military Appreciation Day, and Sunday is Family Day.

The fair’s opening ceremony is 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Nightly grandstand events are the I-T-P-A tractor-truck pull Tuesday, Wooten Rodeo Wednesday, combine demolition derby Thursday, car demolition derby Friday and stock car races Saturday.

Bands will perform at the fair Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. WGEL’s Hayride will be on the air at the main pavilion, Wednesday from 7 to 10 p.m.

The Madison County Fair Queen Pageant is Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Weinheimer Center in Highland and the Little Miss Pageant begins at noon Sunday at the fair.

The carnival is open every day.

The closing ceremony is between 3 and 4 p.m. Sunday.
