New Greenville Police Chief Appointed

Greenville Police Chief Scott Workman

The new Greenville police chief is a veteran on the city’s police force.

Greenville City Manager Dave Willey announced Wednesday he has appointed Scott Workman to be the new chief of police.

Workman replaces Johnny Runyon, who resigned because he is moving out of state. The new chief will be sworn in Thursday.

Workman began his law enforcement career in 1992 as a deputy with the Bond County Sheriff’s Department. He became a Greenville patrolman in December of 1994.

In 2012, Workman was appointed a sergeant.

During his 25 years in law enforcement, Workman has served as deputy commander on the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad, a deputized special federal officer, a computer forensic specialist, an investigator for Greenville and police chief for the Village of Pierron.

He’s also been the police pension board president and is owner of Workman Communications.
