Highland native Jake Odorizzi, a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, was selected to the American League team for the major league all-star game.
Unfortunately, he will not be able to play.
Odorizzi has been placed on the 10-day injury list due to a finger blister on his pitching hand.
The all-star game is Tuesday in Cleveland.
Even if he would have been healthy, it was doubtful that Odorizzi would have pitched in the all-star game because he was scheduled to pitch a regular season game for the Twins on Sunday.
Odorizzi has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this year, compiling a 10 and 4 record with a 3.15 earned run average.
Minnesota is in first place in the American League’s Central Division.
Odorizzi is a 2008 graduate of Highland High School and is in his 8th season in the major leagues.
