Rt. 127 Ramp Work This Week

Motorists are reminded that access to westbound Interstate 70, off Illinois Rt. 127, is closed this week due to construction work.

Work began Monday morning on the westbound entrance ramp and the westbound exit ramp project begins Tuesday. Both closings are scheduled for five days, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Those wanting to travel over the Rt. 127 bridge in that area should be aware of the congestion and possible delays during the day.

The work is designed to partially reconstruct the ramps at their intersections with Rt. 127.

Once the westbound work is finished, the eastbound entrance and exit ramps will be done starting July 15 and 16 with five days allotted for both, weather permitting.

Traffic is being maintained with a posted detour via Interstate 70 and Route 40. IDOT urges drivers to use alternate routes.
