Shirley Ann Washburn, age 81 of Greenville, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday, July 31, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Pastor Glenn Kreider will officiate. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Shirley Ann Oary was born May 6, 1938 in Fayette County, Illinois. She grew up in Pocahontas, attended the local schools and graduated from the last graduating class from Pocahontas High School in 1955. Shirley was a cook for many years for the Head Start in Greenville. She also worked at Utlaut Memorial Hospital in the laundry facility for many years prior to that. Her loves were family, spending time with her grandchildren and cooking. In retirement, Shirley worked at the Highland Wal-Mart in the bakery.
She is survived by her children: Kathy Matthews and husband Mike of Greenville, Michael Washburn and wife Dot of Greenville, Larry Washburn and wife Hope of Greenville and Sandra McCrary of Springfield, Illinois. Loving grandmother of 10: Brad, Stephanie, Heather, Tabatha, Gauge, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Kyle and Danielle. Great-grandmother of 18 and great-great-grandmother of 1. Also surviving is a brother Donny Oary of Kansas.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Irma Weiss, Maxine Suess, Lois Weiss and Donna Bone.
