A field fire was the cause of an alarm for three fire departments over the noon hour Tuesday.
Keyesport District firefighters responded to the scene and requested mutual aid assistance from the Greenville and Wheatfield Township departments.
The field is located along Illinois Rt. 127, south of Illinois Rt. 143 in the south part of Bond County. It is owned by Andy Carter.
Greenville Fire Chief Dennis Wise said a piece of machinery was in the field baling straw. The exact cause of the fire could not be determined.
The fire was extinguished quickly with damage estimated at $40.
