Two Charged With Allegedly Endangering Children & Unlawful Restraint

Two Vandalia residents face multiple charges in a case regarding the alleged treatment of children.

The defendants are Nicholas Arndt and Crystal Arndt, both 34 years of age.

They have each been charged with three counts of felony unlawful restraint and three counts of misdemeanor endangering the life or health of a child.

The state alleges the Arndts detained three children by locking them in an interior room in a home, locked the door from the outside, nailed a window shut and put a board over the window for over seven hours.

Crystal Arndt was released on recognizance bond. Bond for Nicholas Arndt is $1,000 cash.

Both defendants were ordered by the court to have no contact with minor children. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for August 8.
